Snowkiting Clinics
These courses take you from ground zero to riding, possibly all in the same day! We start off with theory, move on to flying trainer kites, then move onto bigger kites and more excitement. We go over safety, gear choices, weather conditions, ideal riding spots, and where to go for more information. These classes have been highly successful. See 100's of lessons here: YouTube Your turn!

Winter Session
The Winter Session at LAKAWA School of Kiteboarding is the time to learn to kite. Snowkiting, winter's version of kitesurfing, is the easier way to get into the activity. For the Winter Session we're back to our On Call, private and group lessons. We'll be On Call, so as soon as conditions are favorable for lessons we'll email a Notice for Lessons. All you have to do is send us an email to get into our system, we'll do the rest. We ensure that conditions are favorable for your class so that you're getting your money's worth and also not putting yourself into unsafe conditions.
Scheduling can be tricky with our dependency on the wind. Close communication the day of the lesson is important to save our valuable time. If the conditions change we will simply reschedule.
Intro to Kiting (Controlling the Kite) aka Ground School
This course covers the essentials to begin kiting. A bit of theory, and mostly hands-on experience. The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the activity and teach you about how to fly a smaller kite, why a kite flies, how to generate power and maintain steady power as the wind fluctuates, safe flying practices, and different kite types. Our goal at the end of this class is to stop crashing the kite, understand steering, the timing involved with powering up and down, how much space is needed, overall preparedness: harness, de-powerable kite. Next class add whatever you use on your feet (skis, snowboard, ice skates). This is a land or frozen lake-based lesson focused on kite only with harness. Additional skills needed in next class to marry the two skillsets of the kite with skis/snowboard/skates.
